Review of Extract (2009) by Aj S — 01 Jul 2010
I'll have to agree, this was probably Mike Judge's weakest film, although I do see what he was trying to do by returning to the "in the workplace comedy". The movie itself just came off dry and just not as memorable as to compare to "Office Space".
A few side characters were very funny, Brad the Gigalo, Nathan, & Rory seem to be the Milton & Bill Lumburgh's of this film. Jason Bateman was ok, it seemed like he didn't have much to work with here, Ben Affleck was midly amusing.
The story itself seemed to have a lot of potential to be as great as "Office Space", but there seemed to be no new grounds broken here and it was overall flat. I think I'll stick with "Beavis & Butt-Head Do America", "Office Space", & the insanely hilarious "Idiocracy" as my Mike Judge choice of comedy, hopefully he'll have that mega true comeback.
