Review of Extract (2009) by Daniel G — 24 Jan 2011
Everyone will hate on "Extract" because they wanted it to be "Office Space." Scratch that, Mike Judge has had over a decade since his cult hit, so we all wanted it to be BETTER than "Office Space," but that's not an easily accomplished feat.
"Extract" is not as good as "Office Space"... and I'm finding it hard to even compare to "Idiocracy." In fact, it's almost as if two different people named Mike Judge were out there making movies.
This one falls a little bit on the mediocre side, but still has a few enjoyable moments. I think its main failure is not allowing the audience to empathize with Jason Bateman's character enough before things start to slide downhill for him, thus eliminating our need to watch him claw his way back to the top.
