Review of Extinction: The G.M.O. Chronicles (2011) by Kevin R — 03 Jun 2013
Careful what you wish for.
Tom Keller has survived an outbreak of some kind that turns people into flesh eating zombies. Initially, he believes he is the last remaining survivor; however, one day he randomly encounters three additional survivors. Tom takes them back to a compound he lived near as a youth and they begin developing a community. Slowly they find more and more people and begin rebuilding civilization. The problem, as Tom and his group try to start over, the zombie continue to evolve and pose a greater threat with each passing day.
"I can still end it when I want to.".
Niki Drozdowski delivers Extinction: G.M.O Chronicles in his major motion picture directorial debut. The storyline for this picture was very fun and entertaining and reminded me very much of season 3 of the Walking Dead television series. The acting is better than I anticipated and the cast includes Daniel Buder, Tobias Kay, Lee Rychter, and Patrick Molleken.
"I decided not to bail out on this mess.".
This movie was airing for free on XBOX Live this weekend so I decided to give it a shot (hard to turn down a free zombie apocalypse movie). I absolutely adored the first 2/3rds of the film and would likely have scored this a 9; however, as the zombies get smarter and evolve the film got a bit annoying (the final attack was not well done). Overall, I definitely recommend seeing this film but it was not as good as it could have been.
"Luckily, they are stupid.".
Grade: B.
