Review of Explorers (1985) by Sara G — 18 Aug 2007
I saw this a few years back when I was on my River Phoenix kick. It was sooooo, oh what's the word I'm looking for? Cute, I guess. River and Ethan Hawke were probably 12 or 13 when they made it, awwwwwww.
Ethan is the main character Ben and he's your average 13 year old boy. He loves space and wants to be an astronomer and has a crush on this blond girl in his class named Laurie. River plays his best friend, Wolfgang Mulluer, a kid with an IQ of about 150.
He loves science and computers and has a lab in his basement. He's very anal about people touching his computer, lol and wears this big Harry Potter-esque glasses and when he's working in the lab he has his labcoat on, it's so cute.
Otherwise he usually wears suits or argyle sweaters. LOL he's such a geek. Well they make friends with this tough guy kid named Darren and they all build this spaceship and travel to space and meet two aliens.
(You gotta watch the movie, it's hard to explain.) One of the aliens if female and I would call her a SALF - Slutty Alien Life Form cuz she was coming onto River and Ethan. LOL. Oh yeah, and before they go to space, Ethan uses their spaceship to spy on the girl he likes.
He's telling the other two boys what he sees and River is rolling his eyes. LOL it's the funniest thing ever.
