An awesome, high-concept, children's movie that fully embodies the atmosphere of the 1980's. This film's perfect amalgamation of great writing, outstanding performances by child actors Ethan Hawke and River Phoenix and great special effects are ultimately mired by the surprisingly lame aliens they meet at the end.
