Review of Experimenter (2015) by Valerie R — 01 Nov 2015
Along with its being an interesting and factual story of one of the two most terrifying experiments in American university culture (the other being the warden/prisoner experiment), the film also does a nice job of playing with the dreary, predictable conventions of biopics.
We learn very little about Milgram, as it should be, and much more about his work. This film probably sheds more light on American university culture--and human beings--than it does on Milgram, and that's just fine, for he seems to have led a slightly more exciting version of the banal life of an academic.
