Review of Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed (2008) by Wes C — 17 Dec 2009
"If you have two distinguished scientists...saying exactly opposite things, that's telling me that the conflict is not between science and belief in God, otherwise you'd expect all scientists to be atheists, but it's a worldview conflict," comments a scientist in this documentary, and can be its thesis for all intents and purposes.
The film's point of view and argument are wittily presented and the underlying dogma, on their terms, that may potentially be polluting the academic world of science. But putting all the heavy political and religious implications aside, the doc, as most now do, too heavily relies on emotion and its own side of the debate than a true exploration of the divide.
Some of the editing and interviews are great, and this film is certain evidence on the effect Michael Moore has indelibly left on documentary films.
