Expelled examines polemic American academia: Science vs. Religion, without even the consideration that the two may be complementary.

The choppy editing and the inflammatory references and visit to NAZI Germany creates serious concerns for the balance of this documentary; however, the emphasis is not on proving or disproving any one institution or belief, yet rather to advocate for freedom of ideas and debate within academia - something Expelled does do well.

Although it contributes to the one-sidedness of Expelled, for me personally, the discussion of Darwinism and the subsequent beliefs and world-views which accompany the theory - especially concerning the value of human life, the existence of morality, and free-will - is an interesting and relevant discussion.

I also found it interesting that while 70% of users liked Expelled, the critics, much like the elitist scientists portrayed in the film, found the documentary to be foolishness. I guess this is another example of, as one scientist from the film says, my ignorance.
