Review of Exotica (1994) by Matt G — 09 Jun 2010
This, along with The Sweet Hereafter, pretty much makes Atom Egoyan the master of irony. The nonlinear structure once again allows him to avoid melodrama. Great performances. And the cinematography is really blue.
I love that. The only thing that stops this from being really really great, to me, is the side plot with the guy who smuggles in macaw eggs. Found it really unnecessary. But still, really good film.
