Review of Exorcist: The Beginning (2004) by Al M — 24 Oct 2008
I Love Exorcist: The Beginning. Atmospheric, Brutal, Suspensful, and Smart, it is without a doubt the best follow-up to the original Exorcist. The post-WWII backdrop with its references to Nazis and the battle between British troops and an African tribe highlight the evil at the heart of the human condition.
The film's ending is somewhat weak especially the cheesy part with the possessed woman running down the tunnel, which is cheesier looking than anything in the original. However, despite a lackluster finale, the film is ultimately strong.
