Review of Exorcist: The Beginning (2004) by Adam S — 26 May 2009
Honestly, in my opinion both "Beginning" and "Dominion" should never had been made. Both feel rushed and incomplete. The fact that both movies were released shows that it was all about the studio getting its money back after such disasters.
Father Merrin's story should have been epic. C'mon, these movies were supposed to form the base and set the stage for, "The Exorcist." It's only one of the greatest horror movies ever, that's all (sarcastically speaking).
Anyone familiar with, "The Exorcist" knows the scene in the movie right after Father Damien Karras asks to perform the exorcism himself. Instead it is given to Father Merrin and it is then mentioned that he had performed another exorcism that "nearly killed him.
" Stick with the original and the third which was written and directed by William Peter Blatty, the author of, "The Exorcist.".
