Review of Exorcist: The Beginning (2004) by Laurie S — 05 Jan 2012
Other than a good performance by Stellan Skarsgard as a younger Father Merrin, a complete time waster and noisy exploitation flick by the erratic director Renny Harlin. The film was actually made because an already-in-the-can DOMINION: PREQUEL TO THE EXORCIST (started by John Frankenheimer, finished by Paul Schrader) was deemed by studio people "not scary enough" (and they're VERY wrong or suffering from ADD).
Avoid this mess and see the Schrader version!
