Review of Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014) by Sheila H — 30 Apr 2015
The tale of Moses is one of the oldest fables in the world, I heard it first in grade school and I've seen a couple of movies about it over the years. In Ridley Scott's version the tale is a bit different but not in a good way.
Now Moses is a fighter, a general in fact and hilariously, his version of God is a product of a brain injury and God himself, is a whiny, angry boy (which actually was a nice move). The movie however is hopelessly out of it's time, for the bible epic was a big sell.
..about 70 years ago. Instead now we get the same deal like in "Noah": bad CGI, cringe worthy "God is with us" lines and even the grand epic scene, parting of the Red Sea feels a moment that was only finished half way.
I expected more from the film-makers and from the cast, I really did.
