Review of Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014) by Karen M — 23 Oct 2015
I sat tonight and watched this movie and I am very disappointed. I don't care about the so called dramatic visual images. (Despite the fact that they were stunning). This movie does not follow the story as recorded in the Bible at all.
Moses did not go back before Pharaoh with a sword, he had a staff. Moses did not teach the people to fight or kill any Egyptians. Moses spoke unto Pharaoh of the ten plagues and also battled against freeing the slaves.
God did not present himself to Moses as a child. I don't recall reading anything in the Bible that Moses broke his leg, that his wife did not know who "the God" on the mountain was and how the Hebrews believed in the one true God.
She was sharing with him, her love and knowledge of God, this is not displayed in the movie. This is a mockery of Hollywood's rotten interpretation of the story of Moses and the true meaning of what happened.
I also found that the movie's story line was hard to follow. The concept of this movie is horrible. God to my knowledge did not address Moses as a "General". For the individuals who wrote this; did so to appease themselves.
I have always watched the Ten Commandments and enjoy the story as it relates to the events recorded in the Bible. I understand that today's society doesn't get it. If your going to make a movie with historical reference, then don't insult nor distort the truth.
There was no reference mentioned that placing the blood on the doors of the Hebrews that t is considered as the "Pass Over". This movie could have been made to follow the exact recordings and received an outstanding reputation that would have become a classic .
I may try to watch this again, but I doubt it. This movie indicated that Moses doubted "God" and didn't believe nor understood his mission. I don't recall any of Pharaoh's chariots sliding down a mountain side.
Moses did not carve the Ten Commandments, God did and gave the tablets to Moses to pass on his law to the people.....Perhaps in Ridley Scott, Steve Zaillian, Steven Zaillian, Bill Collage, Adam Coopers' mind, this was their idea of how they felt it happened.
....to all Christians, you know the truth. Where does it mentioned that Moses pulled a sword from the Red Sea?! Okay I have said enough and I probably will piss some people off, so be it. This movie not only angers me, it hurts.
