Review of Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014) by Tom B — 17 Nov 2015
I skipped seeing this one in theatres because it didn't look too hot. Something about the trailer made it seem like an unexciting epic movie. I was right. Historical films can either be absolutely amazing like TROY, GLADIATOR & LAST SAMURAI (my favorite films of all time) or they can be terrible like ALEXANDER & MASTER & COMMANDER.
EXODUS falls right in the middle. I was hoping that I would be wrong, but about 75% of the movie drags with biblical warfare politics that's less interesting than a made-for-TV miniseries. It on-and-off picks up during the last forty minutes and then closes out mundanely.
