Review of Exodus (1960) by Jonathan B — 19 Dec 2008
I was really disappointed in this film. It just seemed clunky, miscast and thrown together haphazardly. There were a lot of pointless scenes thrown in that did not fit, and no subtly or emotion (except for the scene with Sal Mineo discussing his time in a concentration camp, but this only served to make the rest of the film look even more dull by comparison).
The acting was pretty bad overall, especially by some of the supporting characters. I almost cannot believe that Paul Newman shot this just before the Hustler, since his performance here lacked any emotion or range.
On a side note, was it just me or did Eva Marie Saint look kind of scary, like she had some disease that was causing her to waste away?
