Review of Exit Through the Gift Shop (2010) by Adeesh A — 19 Aug 2011
Amateur video fanatic Thierry Guetta documents the rise of street art having been introduced to the scene by his cousin. Eventually approaching Banksy and winning his trust, Banksy then hijacks his project for his own, turning attention back to Guetta as he becomes the overnight art sensation Mr Brainwash.
Itâ(TM)s a fascinating documentary that at the same time appears to make a mockery of the whole art world. Itâ(TM)s perfect Banksy, regardless of how much involvement he actually had in the whole thing, and makes for a wholly interesting and entertaining watch.
