Review of Exit Through the Gift Shop (2010) by Andy S — 14 Apr 2012
The message of the film is it's brilliance. The joke that Hollywood just nominated for best Documentary. HAHA. Morons. This film is everything that great art is in that while saying something on a regular level, it also is showing you the vacuum that is the world of art and how it is appreciated and the creator of such art.
Can anyone really be an "artist". NO, but I've always known this. But that's NOT what the world thinks. That's not what those who want to sell you things think. COMMERCE. PRODUCT.
If you don't get this film then you are blind to art and only see product. This film can easily be applied to Hollywood and film. It explains Brett Ratner, Michael Bay, Shawn Levy and all the other SCABS out there.
COPY, PASTE and RELEASE. $$$$$$$$$. Bansky is brilliant and this film is a SLAP on the system that gorges on hype, press and MISTER BRAINWASH. HAHAHAHAHA. Love it.
