Review of Exiled (2006) by Ed K — 08 May 2008
Jhonny Toâ??s latest venture into the gangster film genre is stylish as usual but fails to deliver the class or entertainment of some of his previous features despite its A list stars.
Simon Yam replaces his usual suave style for a kind of creepy demure and Anthony Wong does a good job as the gangs experienced leader.
Some of the action in exiled seems a little out of place, at one point a door flies through the air spinning because of the bullets hitting it. It feels like the films realism is ruined by scenes like this. There is also the feeling of the same old, same old gangster storyline and if you have seen Toâ??s brilliant Election series then you wonâ??t gain anything extra from watching Exiled.
