Review of Excalibur (1981) by Carl H — 09 Jan 2012
One of the big masterpieces of cinema, it is also the greatest version of the legend of King Arthur brought screen. John Boorman's direction is spot on. The film is full of talented charismatic actors and many great scenes.
The battles are beautiful; the classical soundtrack is fantastic and the story inspiring. Dark Age's fantasy films do not get better than this. This is a classic film tackling an age-old English story - everyone should know - done to perfection.
