Review of Excalibur (1981) by Ricky M — 31 Dec 2012
A cracking film version of Arthurian lore, possibly the best there is.
Saw this as a kid and loved it, watched it the othr night and it still stands up really well. The effects are still pretty good and you can't fault the battle scenes etc.
I really like how it is played so seriously in parts, and the dialouge is wonderfully corny.
Only slight weakness I found was it felt a touch episodic and Arthur was a bit weak but this was made up for by everything else being so entertaining.
Plus who can fail to be roused by hearing the Carmina Burana, aka the Old Spice music, over Arthru leading his troops to one last battle.
Very entertaining.
