Review of Excalibur (1981) by Caleb M — 23 Nov 2010
A remarkably well-made version of the Arthurian legend that provides great effects, atmosphere and exciting adventures. A few familiar faces include Gabriel Byrne are Uther, Helen Mirren as Morgana, and Liam Neeson in a very small early role.
Although most of the cast are lesser-knowns, they sell each role. The effects and sets are really what make this stand out. It feels like a Star Wars made for history/middle ages buffs.
