Review of Exam (2009) by Stefan K — 27 Aug 2010
This is a great film if you enjoy good grass roots science fiction. Much like the cube series, it is set in one room, and focuses on the interaction of individuals rather than mindless explosions and space porn.
8 candidate sit in a room required to sit an exam. They are told there is one question which must be answered within 80 minutes. The dilemma arises that all 8 candidates have blank sheets of paper in front of them.
The film is very clever, keeps you thinking and guessing right to the very last 45 seconds. I imagine, that the further I get away from this film the more I shall think about it. The pacing is off at times and it can feel a little claustrophobic.
But this does not sully the overall product very much at all. I do not think the film is re-watchable, the script doesn't hold up to repetition and this is the main reason I did not give the film 5 stars.
