Review of Exam (2009) by Robert G — 17 Jan 2011
Found this one by accident on Netflix. Critic Michael W. Phillips, Jr. compared it to Cube and 12 Angry Men in terms of dialog. I would even go so far as to add Saw to that list. This really is a cerebral thriller, as laid out in the premise.
The script is smart and the movie does a fine job with the singe set. The main problem of the film, without giving too much away, is that the conclusion could only be reached exactly how it happened in the film.
That is, if one character made one mistake or did something out of turn, the payoff would be ruined. Again, its hard not to explain more without spoiling it, but believe me when I say that the story is a little hard to swallow.
