Review of Ex Machina (2015) by Dave R — 16 Mar 2016
Well finally got to see this movie Ex Machina, and I am happy I did. I would say for sci fi fans that this is a cross between Blade Runner and Gattaca in both look and feel. What I like is that it is a cerebral movie but it isn't bogged down with too much dialogue.
The images used and striking and full of nuance. There is some real suspense built up throughout, and the payoff is one of the most satisfying endings to a movie for me in some time. There's a little lull time that could've been fixed with some sharper editing, but I'll let it pass.
The performances are very good especially by Oscar Isaac. It isn't a movie for everyone as some will be turned off by the futuristic look, and how it makes you think, but I really enjoyed it.
