Review of Ex Machina (2015) by Simon T — 20 May 2016
Alex Garland's astonishing directorial debut of his own original screenplay has all the qualities one would associate with Stanley Kubrick. Artificial Intelligence is just the means to explore several themes: sexuality, greed, idolatry, betrayal.
It's a rich soup and benefits hugely from a trio of excellent performances and the assurance and skill of the man manipulating it all.
