Review of Ex Machina (2015) by Ivan P — 27 Jul 2016
«Ex Machina» seems to belong to the tradition of philosophical sci-fi films famous for «Blade Runner» and «Ghost in the Shell» (even though, it is animation) which raises the question of what constitutes human being. The film not only addresses this question that becomes more and more important with further technological advancement but neatly weaves it into a good story that keeps viewer in greater and greater suspense as unhurried narrative goes on. Oscar-winning visual effects are great support for overall strong visual style that fits cold «Kubrikian» narration but doesn't look new.
Otherwise, it is one of the best films of 2015 and is strongly recommended for watching.
