Review of Ex Machina (2015) by Namir G — 13 Aug 2016
- Whoa. What a sweet-ass house.
- Holy damn look at that room. Cove lighting. Concrete. Hidden everything. Wood everywhere. Non-disclosure agreements in the drawers.
- Why is Ava pronounced Eva? That's already a name.
- Damn. Caleb actually knows some shit.
- I wonder how many humans would fail the Turing Test.
- The power outages are part of something, aren't they.
- Rich & eccentric. I could totally make that work. What's more, it would look good on me and hang on my frame like a fine tailored suit.
- The tension. I forgot what this whole 'suspense' thing in movies was about. And there's only like 3.5 people in the movie. This is good movie making.
- Natalie Portman would have been a good Ava.
- 3/4 of the theme from Close Encounters of the Third Kind is Ex Machina's main theme. It won't finish or resolve and it's tweaking me out.
- "I'm Kirk, your head's a warp drive. Engage intellect." Best line. Runner up: "Buddy, your head's been so fucked with.".
- That wall...during the dance scene. I want that wall.
- There are so many parallel plots going on in my head during the whole movie.
- Whoa. No. Fucking. Way. I mean...I guess I kinda saw that coming.
- Ohhh snap! He ded.
-Aaaand she's out. Oh look, a chopper, just in time.
