Review of Ex Machina (2015) by Jazzy_Jeff — 04 May 2015

Smart, suspenseful sci-fi. Great performances all-around, but special praise goes to Alicia Vikander, whose portrayal of the A.I. Ava is breathtaking. There is a gracefulness to her robotic movements and mannerisms in place of the jerkiness that is usually attributed to androids in fiction. The result is a balancing act that revels in the uncanny valley. It's obvious that she is a machine, but that doesn't stop her humanity from shining through. It may even accentuate it.

Thought-provoking questions are raised, and implications are explored, but just enough to get the ball rolling. The big "what ifs" are left up to you.
