**SPOILERS**.
Basically the guy who wanted to help the robot escape was a total snake. Was invited to an expensive facility to see expensive equipment belonging to the bearded guy which he then planned on stealing. Millions of pounds worth of equipment he was just going to let it walk out the door. Icing on the cake was the robot murders the bearded engineer or whatever he was. So actually it ginger haired dude was totally naive and underestimated the robot. He fucked up.
Anyway the ginger haired guy got what he deserved at the end. As for the bearded dude I felt sorry for him.
