Review of Evita (2009) by Susan S — 21 Aug 2009
I loved this film when it came out and still do. Many negatively (and unfairly) compare Madonna's performance to that of the original Eva Peron, Patti Lupone. The actresses each bring something different to the role, with Madonna finding a softer side to the notorious woman.
Antonio Banderas, while hard to understand at times, gives a great performance as Che, serving as the film's narrator. The production design and costumes are outstanding.
