Review of Evita (1996) by Charlene E — 01 Jun 2009
Extremely longwinded, obsure, ummemorable songs and confusing storyline. I am a fan of musicals, but this was not a great film at all. Madonna was decent as Eva Peron, but like other reviewers, I found it strange that two Americans were cast as lead, when it is supposed to be set in Argentina.
The songs were draggy and were not on Tim Rice's standards. Antonio Banderas was the onyl thing reason why my rating moves up one star. He was decent, representing working class Argentina.
