Review of Evil Under the Sun (1982) by Yogesh R — 12 Aug 2007
From the same people who brought you "Death on the Nile" (1978), and for some reason Shaffer chose to adapt a novel with the EXACT SAME solution.
It's just as shallow as the other Poirot adaptations (despite the scenic locations and all-star cast), but this one is buoyed by the presence of James Mason (whose hilarious monologue is the film's highlight) as well as Diana Rigg in a swimsuit.
Cole Porter, whose songs played a key role in Shaffer's far superior "Sleuth," provides the basis for the musical score.
