A remake of a horror comedy classic, only with almost all the comedy removed, and most of the fun, and the low budget charm, the crazy trippy scenes of madness, Bruce Campbell, the black humour, all with the added fact that this will be largely forgotten about an hour or a so after watching while the original can be played vividly in my mind scene by scene from beginning to end. So as a remake I'd stick with hugely fun Evil Dead 2, but with all that's been said this is still an okay watch. It doesn't add anything to it by saying this is the highest quality of all the Evil Dead movies, mainly because here they had a budget of over $100 to spend, but this is well shot with good production values and some very graphic blood and gore. And by the end that's the only thing you'll be able to slightly remember from this throwaway rehash of low budget horror perfection.
