The original Evil Dead, even though it was wildly violent and gory, still had a great sense of humour. Unfortunately, this remake is a relentless gore fest with no sense of humour at all, which works on a visceral level but not an intellectual one.
..allthough I was pretty freaked out by some of the gore scenes.
