Review of Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex *But Were Afraid to Ask (1972) by Mike S — 16 Sep 2009
An uneven but generally entertaining sex comedy, split into seven distinct segments or episodes that are otherwise unconnected. Some segments parody different styles, such as Shakespeare, Italian cinema, and 1950s game shows.
The style is sometimes funnier than the content. Based on my son's reaction, the first (aphrodisiacs) and last (ejaculation) segments are the funniest. Some others are amusing, and at least one (dealing with bestiality) falls fairly flat.
Most of the humour is found in the awkwardness and potential embarassment in sex. The visuals are pretty tame by today's standards, although some of the topics may seem inappropriate to some viewers.
