Review of Everything Will Be OK (2006) by Chris C — 02 Oct 2007
Hertzfeldt's latest -- and by far his best -- short film to date. It still retains Don's weird sense of humor, but is now much more visually dynamic (thanks to the lessons learned in his previous Meaning of Life), but most importantly this story has HEART.
The lead character, Bill, is described as an "everyman," and so perhaps it's no surprise that one would see a bit of themselves in Bill. Making people laugh is easy, and the film does it in spades.
Making people care, and perhaps even become misty eyed, is what sets this apart from the pack. Let me just summarize: this is a masterpiece.
