Will Farrell is a versatile actor. But like most other actors that start out in comedy, there's always that 'Razor's Edge' factor when they take on more dramatic roles, where you smile at lines, etc that really aren't that funny, because it's Will Ferrell.
He does a great job here, though, and you definately empathise with him, and he of course totally sells the humour that is liberally sprinkled throughout this film..
