Review of Everything Must Go (2011) by Sean C — 27 Apr 2012
It's always a good thing to see Ferrell playing the straight man, and it's even better to see him in his first drama since Stranger Than Fiction. Based on a short story by Raymond Carver, Everything Must Go is about an alcoholic man who loses his job and his marriage, and is forced to start his life anew.
The way in which Ferrell is able to so believeably play the tragic hero within this film just goes to show how strong this comedian has become at playing sympathetic characters that an audience can truly feel for and care about.
It's just too bad that he constantly goes back to making the same vulgar dreck that he sadly seems to enjoy so much.
