Review of Everything Must Go (2011) by Sam C — 19 Jun 2012
Everything Must Go is a great drama/comedy and Ferrell proves in this movie that he isn't just a comedian. Everything Must Go is about salesman Nick Halsey who is just really down on his luck. He has been fired from his job and his wife left him and just left all his stuff on his lawn and the backyard.
Now Nick is living on on his lawn with everything that was in his house. Things soon get worst because now Nick is told he has to sell his stuff or he will have to go to jail. Some good things do come Nick's way as he forms a relationship a kid Kenny and his new neighbor Samantha.
Now all Nick can do is hope for the best. Normally when you hear Will Ferrell's name in a movie you think that it's going to be some wacky comedy but that is not the case for Everything Must Go.
Everything Must Go is based of the story of Raymond Carver and it is a very interesting and is very well done in this film. This film has so much to offer and is definitely worth watching, if your not a fan of Ferrell's work don't think that this will be the same as any other of his movies because it's not.
Like I mentioned the story in this movie is based of another mans life and in this movie it's very well done. One thing that I liked about this movie is that these characters are actually characters you care about, during this whole film I actually felt bad for the main character and Ferrell played this role so well.
The characters in this movie are very likable and I enjoyed watching this man's life because it was done in a very good way. The script to this movie was great along with the great directing. Because you see Ferrell's name in this movie you may think that this movie would have a lot of comedy or even if you just watch the trailer you may think it might have a lot of comedy but there's really not that much.
There is some funny moments in this movie but there wasn't that many which wasn't really a bad thing. What worked so well in this movie to me is that the drama worked very well. Like I said earlier I felt for the characters and at times I felt very sad.
Another thing that makes this movie is the acting. Will Ferrell gives a terrific performance in this movie and really proved a lot. Ferrell is a great comedian to me but he is also great in those dramatic roles and he proves that in this movie.
He can be funny in this movie and he was also great in the dramatic scenes. Christopher Jordan Wallace gives a great performance in this movie and his relationship with Ferrell's character worked so well in this movie.
Rebecca Hall and Michael Pena give solid performances in this movie as well. Overall Everything Must Go is a great dramedy that is worth checking out.
