To say Raymond Carver's story is superior to the movie is to say that going to Yankee stadium is better than reading about the game in the New York Times the next day. It's an unfair comparison, but a true one nonetheless.

Will Ferrell is underrated as America's sad clown in indie cinema, and it's a good story told well. Just not as well as the master did it when he wrote it down for us all to read.
