Review of Everything Is Illuminated (2005) by Countess N — 06 Sep 2009
Liev Schreiber did a pretty good directing job for this film, but I thought the writing could have been a little better. I think Elijah Wood has become a much better actor in the past few years, so seeing this movie had a kind of a "let's see what happens" reaction from me.
I did enjoy the story of it, what w/ Wood's character finding out about his grandfather and all, but in the end, it didn't have much of an affect on me. I really can't form a solid opinion about this film.
It is somewhat bias, w/ me being an Elijah Wood fan and all, but it isn't enough to sway me in either direction. If you're a fan of Wood or Schreiber, you might want to see it, but if you aren't sure you should rent it or not, I'd suggest passing on this and find something you're really wanting to see.
