I pretty much HATED the first 2 hours and I actually considered walking out. It was hyper-dense , overly expositional and I hated the music. My biggest gripe with the film is its art direction - it has the thrown together aesthetic of a Gondry movie but without the charm - if it had a lusher more expensive look then the juxta-position of the ludicrous and the logical would have landed better for me and I would have been seduced.
BUT at a certain point the heart of the movie is through the noise, the music actually gels and I found it quite touching. So in the end I'd rate it as an interesting failure with strong performances but with writing and aesthetics which let it down.
