Review of Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) by Michaelyue — 26 Mar 2022
Everything everywhere all at once. This movie is over the place, dreamy, 天马行空. It uses the facade of multiverse to discuss real family problems. Every small decision we make has huge implication in our life and other universe.
The fighting scene reminds me a lot of The Matrix- uploading skill pack. The first 30 mins audience can still try to understand it. But after that, it’s just impossible to grasp. Director is great at using slow mo, cinematography, and music to manipulate audience emotions- basically an intense emotional roller coaster.
The simplest way to understand this movie is that lady has a lot of stress- from IRS audit, from divorce request, from daughter being gay and abandoned family, from father’s disapproval, etc. Everything is fake and in her head and she’s trying to find resolution.
She finally found peace at the end.
