Review of Everyone Says I Love You (1996) by David R — 15 Nov 2007
I love this movie, which revives (and maybe parodies?) the innocence of old Hollywood musicals where the cast bursts into song at random times in public places. Note: Don't watch it if you're cynical to the core. The labyrinthine plot and well-paced scenes,.
The musical arrangments of classic standards, are all great. You can't help but smile as Edward Norton and Natasha Lyonne (of American Pie infame) sing "My Baby Just Cares For Me." At first the whole thing seems a little absurd, but then, my suspension of belief gradually crowded out my often-cynical attitude toward goofy, naive musicals and I applauded this as a great, modern musical comedy.
