Review of Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone (2011) by David H — 08 Mar 2012
How did Fishbone get Red Hot? Watch this film and find out. Very good documentary about one of the world's best bands who never made it big; but also never sold out. Very cool to see the genesis of the band in South Central LA amidst the background of the early 80's punk funk scene.
Beautiful example of how lifelong bandmates evolved into a brotherhood depicting all the good/bad things that go along with sibling relationships, (unconditional love, jealousy, competition, forgiveness, compassion, etc.
). I think the movie is best summed up by a quote from lead singer Angelo Moore when he says, "Norwood and I are kinda like a married couple, we wanna be divorced for a minute, but we can't 'cause we're fuckin' married.
..so we gotta stay and work it out...'cause we got kids...that's the music." THANK YOU Fishbone for never getting a divorce, and for having so many beautiful children.. we hope you stay married, have many more kids, and appreciate you giving us a view into your lives via this film.
