First, I can't believe the critic score for this movie is 91% - I can only put it down to some critics wanting to be in the good graces of Richard Linklater. Any comparison to Boyhood (which I thought was a great work that will stand the test of time) is just false advertising.

The best compliment I can give to this movie is that it was cute and sometimes amusing, but never did it get an audible laugh from me or my husband. The fact that there is no plot might be okay if it was more believable (like Boyhood) but the film really just bounces from one college party to another, each scene somewhat replicating the other with all the same testosterone infused banter involving sex, drugs, parties - all the usual college stuff.

Not that that's not believable material for the first days of college, but both the content and the acting felt forced. Look, if I had watched this movie on a plane, it probably would have kept me entertained - but I read the reviews and purposefully showed up thinking we were going to see something great.

..and THAT was disappointing.
