Linklater is a revolutionary in cinema in many ways. There is no director in the industry who has taken such an honest approach towards cinema. To him story is not king anymore, cinema is a window, a portal into the lifestyle and culture of a specific time in our lives seen through his eyes. Due to it being driven by lived experiences, the nostalgic effect immediately sets in and you sortof immerse into reliving the experience from another perspective.
His films always leave spaces for critical observation perfectly intertwined with the gags giving us enough time to get ready for the next one.
To him, cinema is an extension of life, a forum to experience and observe.
'Everybody wants some' is phenomenal movie but for a Linklater's film he's easily capable of pushing it even further, resistance from the studios is clear in this one over something like 'Boyhood' or 'Waking Life'.
A man who resists working in Hollywood, the warmth in his films are hard to find anywhere else; you sir are a true visionary!
