Review of Every Day (2010) by David Ray G — 20 Apr 2011
Well, haven't we ALL seen this before? As we say in Greece, "to the same play viewers." 'I hate my job, *sob sob*, I hate my boss, *sob sob* I wish my wife was giving it to me more often, *sob sob,* oh, no, my son is gay *sob sob,* damn it I missed my other son's recital because I was playing in the pool with Carla Gugino *sob sob.* '.
And all that is JUST from the father's POV.
However, I did enjoy this movie. I found it realistic and plausible, not over done and not over the top. I think it had humor, kindness and interesting performances, it was gently intense and refreshing in a strange way. Ezra Miller is, if I might say so, a new actor on his way to greatness. He's quirky and memorable and overlooked despite.
For all its good intentions, it still remains a been-there-done-that movie that offers nothing new. Good to spend a quiet evening watching, but nothing more than that.
