Review of Everlasting Moments (2008) by Mike M — 22 May 2009
Troell, acting along with Mischa Gasrjusjov as cinematographer, works wonders with a palette of muted colours and available light, and there's no argument with the performers: Heiskanen is fiercely sympathetic, while Persbrandt gives a demonstration of bawdy, burly presence.
You couldn't call it terribly exciting - it trots along at the pace of the patriarch's horse and cart - but its quiet commitment to social reform, good housekeeping and longhand storytelling should warm the cockles of a Sunday afternoon.
